PERSONALITY
Suzuha tends to vacillate from cheerful, upbeat, and friendly to tense, cold, and serious at the flip of a switch.
In normal, everyday circumstances, most people will find themselves faced with the former. When there's no pressure and no danger, Suzuha at her core is a young woman quite easy to get along with. Having grown up in dire circumstances, she can at times come off as a little eccentric (particularly with her odd choices in slang), but she more than makes up for it with enthusiasm. She's got some pride lurking under the surface and tends not to take shit from anyone disrespecting her, but treat her right and she'll return the kindness in spades.
The moment she senses the barest hint of danger however, all of her usual cheer will drop in an instant. Immediately tensing for a fight or adapting a cool, withering stare, Suzuha will remain in this mode until she's sufficiently sure the threat has passed, whether it's perceived physical danger or the presence of a wrong-doer. Having grown up in harsh surroundings, she's learned to never take threats lightly, and as a result tends to jump to this mode more often than necessary. Can never be too prepared, right? Prolonged, high-stress circumstances can leave her in this harsh, tense mode for far longer—which is why the Suzuha hailing from the beta worldline (detailed below) tends to adopt this less friendly and more impatient persona more often than not.

Put the fates of others on top of it, and she'll stop at nothing to see things through. 5'4"/163cm. Gold-brown eyes. Sandy brown hair usually tied up in twin braids, occasionally pinned back in loops.Suzuha is slim and athletic, and stands on the shorter end of average. She favors sporty or casual outfits that are easy for movement, edging toward more practical depending on mission or circumstance. Tends to be very open with her feelings whether good or bad, making her quite easy to read.
History
Steins;Gate is a series centered on time travel, and being from the future, Suzuha's specific background varies based on how certain events transpire in the modern day. There are two versions of her history that depend on whether the story is on the alpha worldline (most of the original Steins;Gate VN and anime) or the beta worldline (during the events of the Steins;Gate 0 VN and anime), detailed below.
alpha worldline
Born in 2017 into a world already falling to the tyrannical rule of the scientific organization SERN after the discovery of time travel, Suzuha grew up watching society slowly choke under its stranglehold. Populations are tightly controlled and technology withheld from the masses, resulting in dire worldwide living conditions. Raised primarily by her mother, Suzuha has little memory at all of her father beyond a few nicknames he went by and the fact that he was a key figure in the anti-SERN resistance and had developed a working time-machine of his own.
She follows in her parents' footsteps and joins the resistance herself as she gets older, learning to fight and survive as any who fight against the oppressors are mercilessly hunted down. By the time she turns 18 she's desperate to change things for good, and undertakes a mission using her late father's time machine to go back to 1975 to obtain a key piece of technology that could help the founders of the resistance put a stop to SERN's rise to power before it can even happen. But she's a sentimental one, and can't help but make a pit-stop in 2010 in the hopes that she might be able to track down and finally learn who her father is...

Events of the Steins;Gate VN/anime
-In 2036, she makes the decision to use the time machine her late father created to travel to 1975 in order to obtain an IBN 5100 (which is capable of reading a proprietary code that will give them an edge against SERN before they come into power) and see that it makes its way to Rintarou Okabe, who spearheads the resistance in the future.
-...But she winds up making a pit-stop in 2010 first, in order to seek out her father. Having never met him, the only clues she has to go on are a pin he used to wear and the knowledge that he would be in Akihabara at this time.
-Makes a miscalculation in coordinates when arriving in 2010, causing her time machine to appear part way through the roof of the Radio Kaikan building in Akihabara.
-Gets hired on as a part-time employee at the CRT Workshop below Okabe's Future Gadget Laboratory in order to get close and keep an eye on him and his progress
-Posts on @/channel as "John Titor," warning of the dystopic future to come and aiding Okabe with his questions as he begins his own time travel experiments.
-Befriends the members of the lab (though quarrels with Kurisu Makise, who in her time is widely known as the "Mother of Time Travel" and member of SERN) and eventually is christened Lab Member 008
-Reveals to Okabe that her last chance to find her father is at a meet up she knows he should be attending, and if she can't find him there, she'd have to be on her way. When Okabe's good-natured meddling unintentionally leads to her father being absent from the meeting, she fully intends to go straight to the time machine and back to her mission
-Okabe interferes, however, sending a text-message to his past self, instructing himself to tail Suzuha and prevent her from leaving so that the lab members can help her continue her search for her father. She concedes, and they go back to the lab where they have a consolation party for her
-Unfortunately, that night a thunderstorm rages and damages the time machine that is still parked mid-way inside the Radio building
-When the Future Gadget Lab's time travel projects make more progress, SERN makes its move to take them into custody, setting into motion the death of lab member and friend, Mayuri Shiina. Okabe, using their newly-built machine, repeatedly sends his consciousness to the past in futile attempts to prevent her death. Eventually he confides in Kurisu about what he has been doing, and the two attempt to puzzle out a way to save her.
-Overhearing Okabe and Kurisu, Suzuha finally reveals herself as a time traveler and John Titor, telling them of SERN's tyranny in the future. She determines that getting the IBN 5100 will help them thwart SERN, and hopefully save Mayuri in the process, and is once again set on returning to her mission.
-Lab member Itaru "Daru" Hashida sets to work on repairing her time machine, and the others aid Suzuha in her search for her father with the limited time they have left
-Just after the time machine is fixed, enabling her to leave, Mayuri puzzles out that Daru is actually Suzuha's father. The two have a brief "reunion" of sorts before she goes on her way.
beta worldline
This worldline sees a time travel thesis stolen and brought across state lines in 2010. The conflict over it and the race to be the first to create a working time machine eventually spark World War III, which leaves the earth war-torn and ravaged for decades to come. Being the child of a key figure in time travel research and resistance against the war, Suzuha spends much of her early childhood on the run with her mother until the day the woman is gunned down in front of her. Suzuha survives the attack and lives on to join her father in his resistance work, eventually being tasked in 2036 with taking the time machine he develops into multiple stops in the past in order prevent the war-torn future from occurring. It doesn't quite go the way she hopes!!
Events of the Steins;Gate 0 VN/anime
I'll write a real bullet point summary later but the gist:
Suzuha's second stop in 1998 sees Bad Things happen, and by the time she gives in and moves on to 2010 for her final mission, the time machine's running on fumes. She's unable to convince a thoroughly traumatized Okabe to go back and make one more attempt at preventing the event that leads to the theft of the time travel thesis after failing once already. This leads to her being stuck in 2010 and growing increasingly frustrated and impatient with the uncooperative Okabe.
